Who We Are

The Interfaith Alliance at the Beach (IAB) is a coalition of faith based congregations, nonprofit organizations, and City service providers working to address unmet needs and social justice issues through community collaboratives and nonpartisan advocacy.

What We Do

We encourage collaboration of faith-based communities, non-profit organizations, individuals and service providers to meet human needs in the Virginia Beach community. As gap needs in the city come to light, we utilize connections and resources between our member organizations to address the need. We also participate in advocacy and action that help to create a more just society for all people.

HOUSING

SUPPORT

In partnership with BEACH, we provide tangible support to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. Our collaborative work in this area includes: Faith in Action (FIA), Charity Trackers, Faith In Action Fund, Furniture Ministry, BEACH Closet, and Affordable Housing.

STRENGTHENING FAMILY RESILIENCE

We seek to empower individuals and families to become self sufficient through a variety of programs and support systems. Our collaborative work in this area includes: Fathers in Training, Foster Care Support, Matched Savings Program, Open Table, and Reentry Council Support.

COORDINATION OF SERVICES

IAB strives to identify gaps in service and maximize community resources through collaboration and coordination. Our work in this area includes: The Leadership Capacity and Advocacy Team, Health Care Access and Mental Health Awareness, Food Security, Senior Support, and VB Schools Connect.

Courtney Pierce, Samaritan House

IAB has been a long-standing resource for Samaritan House, we are able to share our services and gather resources for program participants and community members.

Kay Flohre, Matched Savings Program

I am happy and proud to working with the Matched Savings Program, a collaborative with IAB. We partner with the Bank On Hampton Roads to help families become financially fit and avoid predatory lending.

As I have participated in IAB, I have learned more about the human needs in Va Beach, and am amazed at the collaboratives, partnerships and resources that work together to serve the community.

IAB continues to work hard to fulfill their mission of Advocacy, Community, Compassion and Service.
